References involve any source of information or knowledge from other sources to prove or argue something in favor of the topic. When any source of information is used, then the original author deserves the acknowledgement. The purpose of APA reference revolves around:

·         List of references for the in-text citations
In-text citation is meant for identification of the sources in terms of quotation or paraphrasing. For instance, you have quoted something from other sources; it requires referring the original work. Let’s highlight the purpose of references for assignments like thesis, dissertation, essay, or any such related things. Those are:
·         Credit to the original author for his or her contribution of information or idea
·         Orienting the readers about the original source of information
·         To prove own credential of doing enough search
·         To keep the plagiarism at bay

For instance, you want to write a thesis involving so many references. In this regard, you might have scouted the requisite information or knowledge related to research study from book, journal articles, newspapers, magazines, online sources, and so forth. Consider you have extracted some information from a book, then it requires acknowledgement in the following way:
·         Type of reference
·         First in-text citation
·         Subsequent citations
·         Reference list
The way to in-text citation differs from one author to multiple authors. There are certain guidelines to refer the authors. Again it involves the rule for edited versions. Similarly, there are guidelines for referencing for online sources such as: webpage, blog post, podcast, etc. It requires reference list in alphabetical order. When there is no author, it requires mentioning the title for reference purpose. 1. I agree that many academic assignments require you to write them in APA format. I was recently assigned a short paper for one of my general classes that involves this type of format. I'll have to keep in mind all the list of in-text citations like mentioned. I think this would end up being really helpful in the end! https://www.toptierediting.com/about.html
