How
the assignment writing should be?
In the fast changing field of academic, the impact of
e-publishing, e-articles, e-books, etc., has been developed and has put forth a
great effort in gaining knowledge to the
readers. Several authors gave guidelines for writing the academics (for e.g. Van
der Krogt, 2001). Even though there are all kinds of e-advancement, assignment
writing is a facet of every student’s course of study. Every writer should have
a strong knowledge on the topic, to write any detailed description which
develops the ability of the writer to analyze the situation critically. Steps
involved in writing the assignment are discussed below:

Overview:
Determine the topic for which the
assignment has to written and before writing the assignment the writer should
have entire overview of the topic. Evaluate the topic critically and make sure
the topic given is relevant to the subject area.
Outline:
A detailed outline should be
developed from the overview of topic. A balance must be maintained, so divide
each section equally so that equal importance of content is developed because
developing more content under one specific topic will result in missing of some
other topic. The outline plays an important role, in order to maintain the flow
and structure of the content. In this step the heading are also decided.
Identify
Key Words:
The main step in writing an
assignment is identifying the appropriate key words for the research process.
For locating the information the identification of key words on the topic is
more essential because to it make the assignment more effective and impressive
for the reader.
Information
Collection:
Collecting the information related to the
given topic using the key word from the above step. The collected information
should have a good quality which is more important. The significance of writing assignment relies on the usage of recent source information and reference,
because recent information is more reliable which will have the recent updates.
It is more significant to check for plagrism, because collecting information
from internet is only to gain knowledge, but the writer must write the assignment
from the knowledge gained from the source.
Organize the
available information:
The
Collected information must be organized systematically in order to have a good
flow and structure of the assignment. Use the heading written in the outline
and frame the structure of the assignment. This arrangement of the content can
formulate an effective assignment or vice versa. The assignment should start
with the reason to choose the topic and justification must be given for
choosing the topic. Every assignment must contain the conclusion, were the
result of the assignment is written.
Language and
Style:
In
this step the assignment is evaluated for the flow, structure, language and
style and moreover the assignment’s requirement should be met. If the
assignment has any irreverent content that must be deleted immediate and should
be rewritten. Make sure the constructed sentence and usage of words are clear
and logical. The spelling for each word must be checked and which language and
style to be used is also to be checked. Punctuation marks must be placed at the
place where it must be (Holmes, 1995); standardized abbreviation used in
assignment must be abbreviated so that the reader knowledge is also updated.
Rewriting:
This
step is known as the “secret of good assignment” were errors which are found in
the Language and Style step must be
corrected before documentation. It is important to make the changes to have a
good assignment
(Smith,
1999).
Documentation:
The
final step in the assignment writing is documentation. Every document developed
must be present in an acceptable and neat format. The formatting include the
table of content page were the subtitles of the topic is listed with the page
number and additionally, if the assignment has figure and table that must be
listed too. Even though the content is more important than the format, the
appearance makes the first impression.
Don’t of assignment writing:
1. If the writer did not understand the assignment topic is
important either to clarify with their instructor or to choose other topic.
2.
Writer should not concentrate in one
specific subtopic or showing interest in a particular topic, equal importance
must be given to all topics.
3.
Don’t take the irrelevant content or
reference for the assignment.
4.
Taking old reference is not accepted
because there are multiple frameworks used in the assignment and the newly
developed models are established only according to recent trend.
5.
If the word in the assignment is not
proper, during the proofreading it is important to change the appropriate word.
After
the submission of the assignment, it is important for the writer to get the
feedback from their instructor and the experience of the research process.
